It was a busy weekend for BU Triathlon!
On Saturday, October 10 alumnus Ali Hall competed in the Super Bowl of triathlon: the Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. She qualified for this race by finishing 2nd overall in the female 18-24 age group at Ironman Texas this past year. The race in Kona is known for its hot, windy conditions, and Ali got to experience that first hand. She battled through the heat to finish in 13:01:16. This is an incredible accomplishment and we are so proud to have a BU Tri alumnus race in Kona. Ali is the second to do so in the past two years (Owen Kendall competed in 2014).
On Sunday, October 11 we had numerous athletes compete in the BAA Half Marathon. Its a treat to have such a prominent race right in our backyard! Current team members that finished the race were Austin Lent (1:35:51), Elbara Ziade (1:46:57 - Completed the BAA Distance Medley), Lindsey Wilcox (1:53:30 - PR!), and Kaylie Piecuch (2:00:00 - First half marathon). Alumnis that completed the race were Emily Lawson (1:38:26) and Liz Rathje (1:51:42 - PR!).
On Monday, October 12 some of our team members volunteered at the Tufts 10k for Women! It was nice to be on the other side of a race for a change. We are always thankful for the volunteers at our own races, so this was a great opportunity to return the favor.
